In modern
educational school process the medical and psychological
assistance is a necessary component of an education system.
The expediency of functioning MPA is defined by actual
school needs for the effective organization of teaching and
educational process, providing successful social adaptation
of pupils, development of their specific features, the
creative attitude to a life and strengthening of physical
and mental health.
The
medical-pedagogical service of school-lyceum existing more
than 11 years is presented by skilled and highly qualified
personnel: four psychologists, two speech therapists, a
neuropathologist and a paediatrist. All experts of service
have professionally equipped consulting rooms: the room of
psychologist, the doctor’s room, the speech therapist’s room
and a room of psychological unloading that enable to spend
preventive, medical, psychological, developing and advisory
kinds of work qualitatively.
Psychologists of MPA carry out
complex professional work in directions:

Psychological diagnostics of
cognitive, emotional, strong-willed and social spheres
of pupils at various stages of adaptation and training;

Diagnostics of emotional
well-being, psychosomatic conditions of pupils, studying
of dynamics of working capacity with the purpose of
preventive maintenance of physical and emotional
overfatigue;

Both individual and group advisory
work;

Psychological education of
teachers, parents, pupils by inquiries and vital topics
within the teachers' meetings, trainings and educational
seminars.

The activity of speech therapists
experts is focused on duly definition and elimination of
infringements of speech, on formation of a correct
pronunciation, on development of coherent oral and
written speech that essentially influences success of
training. In primary school they hold the group and
individual speech correction lessons focused on
development of phonemic hearing, development of the
vocabulary, development of coherent oral and written
speech.
Doctors carry out medical support by
diagnostics, «D» supervision and carrying out, if necessary,
the courses of medical treatment, physiotherapy and medical
massage. Consultations with parents about medical aspects of
school adaptation of children with CNS pathology and
measures of its preventive maintenance are held regularly. A
great attention is given to a problem of hyperactive
children with deficiency of attention. The dynamic of
pupils’ health state is regularly monitored and fixed.
